Chapter Philanthropy and Service

Tri Delta nationally supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a facility for children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance. In 2006, Tri Delta’s Executive Office committed our chapters to raising $10 million in 10 years to help build a Patient Care Floor in the new St. Jude Chili’s Care Center. By 2010, just four years after the pledge, Tri Delta raised $10 million for St. Jude. Because of this success, Tri Delta made a new pledge in July 2010 to raise $15 million in five years to name the Specialty Clinic located in the Patient Care Center at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We successfully raised $15 million in just 3.5 years.

In doing our part to help St. Jude, we host an event each year called Triple Play. Triple Play is a softball tournament in which sisters team up to coach different teams made up of fraternities, sororities and other organizations on campus. Our Triple Play directors take great pride in making sure to educate all of our members on the benefits and worthy cause in which we are all helping raise money for. Our chapter takes great pride in helping St. Jude and making a difference in the many lives of children that are changed by the money donated. This past year we met and surpassed our goal by raising over $83,000 for St. Jude. No other Greek organization has had this level of commitment to a charitable partner and few are raising a comparable amount of money.

Within Tri Delta, we believe that an important part of being in the Greek community is participating in other chapter philanthropic events. Throughout both the fall and spring semesters our calendar is full of Greek and other community events in which Tri Delta sisters take time to participate.
